History of Beyoğlu district of Istanbul
In the late Ottoman era, Beyoglu became a popular residential and commercial district for foreign merchants, diplomats, and intellectuals. European influence was strong, and the area attracted a significant population of Greeks, Armenians, Jews, and Levantines. Each community brought their own traditions, languages, and cultural practices, creating a multicultural tapestry within Beyoglu.
