Çiçek Pasajı Flower Passage or Cité de Péra Istanbul

Çiçek Pasajı, Flower Passage or Cité de Pérawas originally built in the 19th century as a grand arcade with luxurious shops and apartments. It was commissioned by a wealthy banker named Hristaki Zografos and completed in 1876.

Initially, Çiçek Pasajı was intended to house various luxury shops, boutiques, and apartments. However, over time, the passage went through several transformations and became a popular meeting place for Istanbul's high society.

 

In 1911, a devastating fire broke out in Çiçek Pasajı, causing significant damage to the structure. It was later rebuilt and reopened in 1914 with a different architectural style, incorporating Neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau elements.

 

In the mid-20th century, Çiçek Pasajı underwent another transformation and became predominantly occupied by restaurants, cafes, and bars. It became a lively and vibrant culinary destination, attracting locals and tourists alike.

Over the years, Çiçek Pasajı has become an iconic landmark in Istanbul, known for its rich history, charming ambiance, and culinary offerings. It continues to be a popular destination for food enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of cuisines and dining options.
